All the Lonely Drivers
Data collected from the intersection in front of Connell Student Center at 11am-11:30 am 2/16/15
# of Passengers
1 - 60 cars
2 - 10 cars
3 - 3 cars
4 -1 car
5/6/7/etc. - 0 cars
Data collected from in front of Jittery Joes from 3:30-4:00pm 2/16/15
# of Passengers
1 - 60 cars
2 - 16 cars (including 1 bus with a driver and one passenger)
3 - 3 cars
4 - 1 car
5/6/7/etc. - 0 cars
The overall trend is that people drive by themselves. This is likely due to Americans LOVING their independence and being able to go wherever they want, whenever they want, with whoever they want (often just themselves). Maybe the most telling observation was a public transportation bus I saw with literally two people in it. One driver, one passenger, one gigantic gas guzzling bus.
